Clanranald visits Primary 5

March 18, 2009

We were really lucky to get a visit from Scott. He works with Clanranald and knows LOADS about the Scottish Wars of Independence!

We got the chance to dress up, look at weapons, use weapons and also hear lots of interesting facts about the Scottish Wars of Independence.

Here are some pictures.

5LW battling against each other!

March 17, 2009

In drama we have been working on battle sequences.

We have been working in pairs and small groups. We have to think about our reaction towards our partner’s action. This was hard at first but soon we were pros! Just like in the films!

Have a look at this video to see us fighting (miming of course!) each other with weapons from the time.

This is a video of the final battle. Two pairs worked together to form a group of four. When every group was fighting at the same time it looked like a real battle.

March 4, 2009

This is our February task for Voices of the World.

5LW are now composers!

March 3, 2009

We are working in groups to compose a piece of Scottish music.

We are using the pentatonic scale. This means we are only using 5 notes.

When our music is complete we will record each one and post it on the blog.

William Wallace

March 2, 2009

To learn about William Wallace we split into four groups.

We had to decide where our strengths lie and then choose if we were going to be a thinker, an artist, a writer or an organiser.

The artists made a large picture of Wallace.

The thinkers had to think of adjectives to describe Wallace’s character.

The organisers looked at the information we have gathered so far and decided what Wallace’s next plan of action should be.

The writers split into to groups and wrote down the thinkers’ and the organisers’ ideas, they also made a banner.

Have a look at the pictures below to see us hard at work.
